Davinder Singh Kang, the first Indian who had qualified for the javelin final at the 2017 IAAF World Championships held at London now planning to quit India due to his poor financial condition.

 After missing out on the list of sportspersons selected under the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), javelin thrower Kang is planning to leave the country. The international javelin thrower has been planning to represent Italy instead of India.

Davinder told the media that he is considering shifting his base from India to represent Italy if his name is not included in the TOPS list as he cannot afford any more loans. He has been facing a debt of seven lakh rupees and he is very much worried about his poor financial condition.

An Italian company has offered him Rs 12.80 lakh per month for representing the country.  Kang gave ultimatum to the sports authority that he would not hesitate to accept the contract if his name won’t be included in the list.

According to the information, The Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) committee recently added names of 107 athletes who will be supported for the upcoming Commonwealth Games and Asian Games in 2018 and a few for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Davinder’s name was not in the list and he was shocked. He revealed that the players who didn’t even qualify for the international championships were included in the list. Even he has approached the sports ministry but didn’t get response yet.

The international javelin thrower revealed his poor plight that his he borrowed the spikes from his friend when he qualified for the World Championships in London.

   

Davinder had qualified for the World Championships in London with a throw of 84.57m. Unfortunately, our defected system has been forcing this excellent player to quit India.
