The illegal donation of 14 cadavers by Dera Sacha Sauda authorities to a private medical institute in Lucknow is under the scanner of Haryana government. An official probe has been ordered by the Haryana government to inquire that whether the ‘legal formalities’ were followed by the Dera while donating the 14 dead bodies to private hospital in 2017.
WHY HARYANA GOVERNMENT WAS SILENT ON THE
ISSUE WHEN UNION HEALTH MINISTRY WAS ALREADY AWARE OF THE ILLEGAL PRACTICE OF
DERA?
In May 2017, the Union Health Ministry decided to “debar the college” from admitting students for a period of two years, and authorised the MCI to encash the bank guarantee of Rs 2 crore, stating that the institute was not following prescribed guidelines.
The Union Health Ministry in August mentioned in its report, “The explanation offered by the college in obtaining 14 cadavers from Dera Saccha Sauda, Sirsa without requisite permission and death certificates is a serious issue to be looked into by the concerned authorities.”
Why Haryana government was silent at that time when the Union Health Ministry has unearthed the matter. The inquiry ordered by the Health ministry of Haryana on the same day of search operation. It means the Haryana government had no other option left except to ear humble pie to save the image of the government.
Anil Vij has confirmed that the inquiry has been ordered to investigate the supply of the cadavers without the death certificates to the GCRG institute of Medical Sciences for studies from January 1 to August 31 but he could have ordered inquiry when the matter was highlighted by Union Ministry of Health.
Vij who is a sympathiser of Dera said that the orders were issued on the day when Haryana police and paramilitary forces launched a search operation.
The minister has been facing flak for showing sympathy towards the Dera Sacha Sauda. Even he had donated Rs 50 lakh to dera and now he is saying that he won’t stop going to Dera as he has given funds to Dera not to the Baba.
MOST OF THE MEDICAL COLLEGES WERE LISTED WITH DERA FOR CADAVERS
According to the officials of GCRG institute near Lucknow city, most of the medical colleges were listed with the Dera Sacha Sauda for the cadavers. Even the medical college authorities also admitted that they did not have the death certificate of the 14 dead bodies received from dera as donation. The institute only has the ID cards and Adhar cards of the bodied received from Dera.
