Vigilance nabs 14 employees in bribery cases during July

Chandigarh: State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption, has been able to nab 14 officials and two private persons red handed accepting bribes in 14 trap cases during the month of July which includes 5 employees of revenue department, 6 police personnel and 3 belonging to other departments.

Disclosing this an official spokesperson of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau said the Bureau had submitted 13 challans of vigilance cases in various special courts in the last month. Apart from this, 14 vigilance enquires have also been registered to thoroughly probe the corruption cases against public servants.

Giving more details, he informed that special courts have decided two bribery cases filed and contested by the Bureau during last month. Ravinderpal Singh former Production Manager, Markfed Kapurthala was convicted and sentenced with 2 years imprisonment with fine of Rs. 5,000 by the special court Kapurthala. Similarly Parkash Singh Sandhu, Executive Officer Improvement Trust Kapurthala had been imprisoned with 5 years jail with Rs. 50,000 fine by special court Kapurthala.
