Chandigarh, September 6: State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption, has been able to nab 12 officials and three private persons red handed accepting bribes in 12 trap cases during the month of August which includes 5 employees of revenue department, 4 police personnel and 3 belonging to other departments.

Disclosing this an official spokesperson of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau said the Bureau had submitted 14 challans of vigilance cases in various special courts in the last month. Apart from this, 11 vigilance enquires have also been registered to thoroughly probe the corruption cases against public servants. In addition to this seven criminal cases have also been registered after through probe.

Giving more details, he informed that special courts have decided six bribery cases filed and contested by the Bureau during last month. Mohinder Singh, BDPO, Hazipur was convicted and sentenced with 3 years imprisonment with fine of Rs. 10,000 by the Additional Session Judge Hoshiarpur, Bhajan Lal, Additional Soil Conservation Officer Patiala was convicted and sentenced with 5 years imprisonment with fine of Rs. 10,000 by the Additional Session Judge Patiala.

 Similarly Chhinder Singh, Dairy Development Inspector Moga was imprisoned for 4 years jail with fine of Rs. 8,000 by the Additional Session Judge Moga, Darshan Singh Patwari of former circle Chaatiwind Amritsar was sentenced for 4 years with fine of Rs. 5,000 by the Additional Session Judge Amritsar. Similarly Kamalpreet Singh Dhaliwal District Manager Markfed Ludhiana was convicted and sentenced with 3 years imprisonment with fine of Rs. 1 lac by the Additional Session Judge Ludhiana and Sukhwinder Singh Patwari of Danetha, Patiala and 7 others were sentenced with 3 years imprisonment with fine ranging from Rs. 13,000 to Rs.3000 by the Additional Session Judge Patiala.
