Chandigarh: Two people were killed and three injured when the car in which they were travelling rammed into a tree at the Sector 19-27 light point in Chandigarh on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.

Aman, Surender, Major, Raghav and Brijesh were on their way to Sector 22 to have dinner at around midnight. As per the police, they were out to celebrate Major’s birthday and were travelling in Aman’s car. Police suspect that the car was being driven at a high speed, due to which the driver lost control and rammed the car into a tree.
The fire brigade was also roped in to cut the car and rescue trapped occupants. All injured were rushed to GMSH, Sector 16 from where two of them — Surender and Raman— were referred PGIMER, where they succumbed to their injuries.
