Gurdaspur: The story of selfie girls, who were drowned in canal at Sathiali village in Gurdaspur while clicking selfies has taken a shocking turn on Saturday. The statement of the third girl accompanied them changed her statement and revealed that duo were alive. She told police that they have cooked the story to hide their location as duo fled with someone.
However, the second statement of the third girl put the police in complications, whereas the police teams were searching the girls in canal and nearby areas. The police have introspects the second statement of the story telling girl and diverted predication of investigation on fresh statement.
While talking to Spokesman, SHO of Kahnuwan Harjit Singh encapsulated investigation and said that the police are following the line of investigation as per the latest statement of the story telling girl. He added that police teams have been dispatched to trace the whereabouts of the missing girls. He also confirmed that the police have ruled the drowning angel in the case. He said that investigation is on and further action be would taken according to the development of investigation.
It was pertinent to mention that police among divers were searching the girls in canal soon after receiving the information last night. SHO said that taking the prompt action on the information of girls, the police have arranged the divers and spread the teams on search operation.
However, in her first statement Sophia said that the duo had gone out for a morning walk on the canal banks. The scene of the rising currents of flowing water in the canal lured both girls student, to go for a selfie. However, both slipped and fell into the canal.
Sophia accompanied them and spread the information among family members and villagers.
