It seems the jails in Punjab have turned the pivotal point for the criminals. The security deployed inside the prison must be questioned as how the mobile phones being entered in the premises and how they reach to the gangsters. In Amritsar, the Central Jail authorities carried out a surprise check and recovered 24 mobile phones from 20 inmates including gangsters.

The prominent gangsters have been happily enjoying the mobile phones and internet inside the jails. Last month, the Central Jail authorities had recovered 22 mobile phones from the inmates. It means the police security deployed inside the jail has not learnt any lesson. If the gangsters can operate from the jails through the mobile phones then how come the Punjab police department will ensure the proper law and order in the state.

Vicky Ganunder, the absconding gangster had put up a post on his Facebook account when the gangster turned politician Jaswinder Singh ‘Rocky’ was murdered. Gaunder had messaged on his Facebook account inside the jail premises. He clearly indicated that his gang was involved in the murder case of Rocky. It is evident that the inmates including the gangsters are communicating with their aides while sitting in the prison.

The incident had raises eyebrows on the irresponsible behavior of the cops deployed inside the jail premises. Punjab has already suffered due to terrorism and now the new trend of mobile phones inside the jail premises may boost up the morale of gangsters. In a span of last one year, there are number of gang wars reported in the state. Action should also be taken against the erring police officials and the security inside the jail should be changed time to time so that such incidents could be averted.
