Punjab police seize demonetised currency

Patiala: Punjab police have seized Rs 80 lakh in demonetised currency from the occupants of two different cars on way from Zirakpur to Patiala.

Patiala: Punjab police have seized Rs 80 lakh in demonetised currency from the occupants of two different cars on way from Zirakpur to Patiala. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sukhman Randhawa said that the police intercepted two cars and recovered Rs 54 lakh in demonetised currency from one of them and arrested a person identified as Vinod Kumar.     

From another car, the police recovered Rs 26 lakh in demonetised notes and arrested two persons identified as Gurdial Singh and Manoj Kumar. He said the demonetised Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes were seized from these persons. The matter is being investigated, the official said. PTI
