Punjab Panchayat by-elections on August 6

Chandigarh (Jai Singh Chhiber): The Punjab State has announced the date of Panchayati by-elections for the seats vacated by various Sarpanchs. The information was given by the Panchayat Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa. The polling will be held on August 6 i.e. Sunday. The date of filing nominations from 24th July to 27th July and scrutinizing will be done on 28th July.

The polling will be held on August 6 i.e. Sunday. The date of filing nominations from 24th July to 27th July and scrutinizing will be done on 28th July.

The date for taking the nomination back is July 29th. The voting will be held on August 6, Sunday from 8 AM in morning to 4 PM in evening. The polling process will be over by 8th August. According to the Section-25 of Negotiable InstrumentsActs, 1881, 29th July won’t be a holiday. The counting of votes will be done at the respective polling stations.

Talking to Rozana Spokesman, Bajwa said that the state government has been planning to give 50 per cent reservation to women in the Panchayat elections next year.

It means the government has been trying to work for the upliftment of women. The move will encourage the women to participate in the politics.
