Summer break for Punjab Medical, Dental colleges

The Punjab Government today issued the orders to restore the summer vacation of the faculty of state medical and dental colleges from 30 days to 37 days. Giving details, Minister for Research and Medical Education, Brahm Mohindra said that it was brought to the notice of state government that summer vacations of the faculty of state medical and dental colleges was reduced from 37 days to 30 days. The Minister said that the faculty members gave him a detailed representation saying that academic leave actually is not a leave and the faculty members during academic leave are bound to serve academic duties as examiner or attending academic conference. The Minister said that the faculty members met him few days back in this regard and he asked the Vice Chancellor of Baba Farid University to consider this demand.

Capt seeks report on Ludhiana focal point Infrastructure

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has sought reports from the Ludhiana DC and PSIEC on the poor focal point infrastructural development in the region’s focal points and industrial estates, after the issue was raised by a delegation of Ludhiana industrialists and CII representatives which met him here on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister has also assured the industry that his government would provide all the necessary facilities to facilitate industrial development in Ludhiana.

Paramjit assumes charge as DPI Secondary Edu

Paramjit Singh today assumed charge as DPI (Secondary Education). A 1999 batch PCS officer, Mr. Paramjit Singh's orders posting him as DPI (Secondary Education) were issued yesterday late evening. He took charge at the head-office at Punjab School Education Board complex. Earlier, he has served as ADC Jalandhar, ADC Kapurthala and ADC Nawanshahr.

Job Fair for Youth

CM Amarinder Singh announced that 50,000 Punjab youths would be given jobs in the first phase of his government plan to fulfil poll promises of a job in each household of the state. A job fair has been planned for the purpose in August, 2017 in which leading companies will select the eligible youths for placements.

Industry Policy

Chief Minister Amarinder Singh also announced that the new industry, transport policy for Punjab would be unveiled soon. The government has decided to set up 16 new industrial parks across the state to boost industrial activity, he added.
