CM CONDOLES DEATH OF SENIOR JOURNALIST RAVINDER SHARMA’s MOTHER
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday mourned the death of Indira Devi, the mother of senior Jalandhar-based journalist Ravinder Sharma.
Captain Amarinder extended his sympathies to Sharma of the Hind Samachar group and prayed for the bereaved family. May God give them the strength to bear their loss, he said, in his condolence message.
Raveen Thukral, Media Advisor to CM, also expressed his heartfelt condolences to Ravinder Sharma and other family members in their hour of grief. The loss of a parent was a heart-wrenching experience and could not be compensated, he added.

Expressing these views here today while inaugurating a photo exhibition on ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ organized by the Photo Journalist Welfare Association , the Local Government, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister, Punjab, Navjot Singh Sidhu said that only those societies deserve a claim to prosperity which provide equal opportunities to women in social, political and economic spheres.

The Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Minister, Punjab, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot today demanded from the Union Government to take immediate measures to release Punjab’s share of Rs. 1046.48 crores under various welfare schemes pertaining to the state so as to not let the work related to the all round welfare and development of scheduled castes and backward classes get hampered at any cost.
In his address here today at Haryana Niwas on the occasion of ‘One Day Regional Social Welfare Conference of 6 States’, the minister said that the Post Matric Scholarship scheme is very significant for the career building of students hailing from Scheduled Castes.
