Punjab discusses issues facing the state with NITI Aayog

Chandigarh: Punjab government officials from various departments today gave a presentation to a NITI Aayog team on issues facing the state, an official spokesman said.

The NITI Aayog team, led by Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar, patiently heard the issues during the meeting held at Punjab Bhawan in Chandigarh in presence of Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal and Chairman of Punjab State Farmers' Commission Ajay Vir Jakhar, the official said in a statement.

He said various state government departments, including agriculture, forest, housing and urban development, and school education participated in the meeting.  

The agriculture department raised the issues of fixing the MSP for crops, review of sharing pattern of the central government-sponsored schemes, financial assistance to curb burning of crop residues, and special package for modernisation of irrigation infrastructure in the state.

The spokesman said that the school education department called for empowering states by giving central funding to the state. Other officials participating in the meeting also raised with before the NITI Aayog team the issues facing their respective departments. PTI
