The incidents relates to May 17 when the police had booked Prem Rani BJP Councillor along with family on the charges of opening fire on a Congress worker.

A case was registered under 307 IPC under No.112/17 and Nannu tried to save the real culprits by using his political pressure.

To protest against the arrest of the party worker, a high dram was witnessed at the City police station when Sukhpal Singh Nannu, two time BJP former MLA and Kissan Morcha Chief Punjab Unit BJP, handcuffed himself in the police station and tied himself with the gate of the Cell.

Nannu went to the police station with his supporters and alleged that the police were harassing his party workers on the instructions of Congress leaders, who were booked without any reason and another worker Kuldeep Singh had been arrested who had nothing to do with the incident. It is pertinent to mention that this is the second time since 2013 that Sukhpal Singh Nannu has handcuffed himself. Then, he had protested against his own colleagues.

On the other hand, when contact Nannu – who was away to Chandigarh, on phone said, I had gone to the police station to ask only the illegal detention of Kuldeep Singh when his name is not appearing in the case.  Later on a case was also registered against Kuldeep Singh and bail out on the same day.

He said, the Congress is now using the police to settle political scores.
