Patwari and his agent nabbed red handed by vigilance

Chandigarh: State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against rampant corruption today nabbed a revenue Patwari posted at Banga, district SBS Nagar red handed for accepting bribe.

Chandigarh: State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against rampant corruption today nabbed a revenue Patwari posted at Banga, district SBS Nagar red handed for accepting bribe.

Disclosing this here today a spokesman of Vigilance Bureau Punjab said Mr. Gurdev Das, Patwari, posted at halqa Banga in SBS Nagar and his agent Amit Kumar were caught red handed by a vigilance team led by Mr. Ramesh Singh Inspector, Vigilance Bureau Unit-1, Jalandhar. He siad the accused were demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 5000 from Jagan Nath, a complainant of from Jindowal, tehsil Banga, district Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar for making correction in a fard record of his land.

Giving details he said the complainant approached the VB and alleged that the above named accused were demanding bribe of Rs. 5000 from him. After verifying his complaint the VB team laid a trap and the accused were caught red handed and tainted money was recovered from them in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at VB police station Jalandhar and further investigation was under progress.
