Notification issued, serving liquor to resume at hotels, restaurants from today

Chandigarh: Punjab government has issued notification regarding serving of liquor in hotels, restaurants, clubs and other notified places. It comes in the wake of Governor's assent to the Punjab Excise (Amendment) Bill passed by Punjab Vidhan Sabha last month.

Chandigarh: Punjab government has issued notification regarding serving of liquor in hotels, restaurants, clubs and other notified places. It comes in the wake of Governor's assent to the Punjab Excise (Amendment) Bill passed by Punjab Vidhan Sabha last month.

With this, serving liquor will resume at above said places located within 500 metres of the national highways. The SC had ordered ban on serving liquor at these places within the said limit. The state excise department will start issuing licences to the owners of these places from today for the purpose.
