
The former cabinet minister of Punjab and the senior leader of Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sucha Singh Langah had raped the victim of Gurdaspur district on the pretext of job. It is mentioned in the FIR that the victim is a widow and she approached the former minister and SAD leader Sucha Singh Langah for job in 2009.
The victim along with her family members met Langah at Kissan Bhawan, Chandigarh. Langah had told the lady to meet him personally at the same place after two days and she met him. The FIR mentioned that the former minister started sexually exploiting her and he didn’t even stop when she told him that she was the classmate of his daughter Sarabjit Kaur.
The victim was threatened by the accused and she was repeatedly raped and blackmailed by the leader on the pretext of job. The FIR number 0168 further revealed that the accused called the victim from different mobile numbers. The numbers mentioned in the FIR are 9779220000, 9871218462 and 7347479442. Langah didn’t exploit her sexually but he even exploited her financially. He assured her to get her a plot in Chandigarh Industrial Area.
And he also assured her that he would help her to get an agency. Finally, the victim got the job but she was repeatedly raped by the then minister Langah. He told her to buy a flat in Chandigarh so she sold her land at her village for Rs 30 lakhs.
The accused took all the money and didn’t fulfill his promise and gave her only Rs 4.5 lakhs out of Rs 30 lakhs. When she asked him about the money, the accused helped her to get a loan of Rs 8 lakhs but he took all the money and gave her only Rs 1 lakh. The victim in her complaint told the police that she had no other option except making his video to prove her statement.
She also gave the video recording of Langah to the police with her complaint. The alleged rape case against Langah comes at a politically crucial time for his party ahead of the Gurdaspur parliamentary by-poll scheduled for October 11.
The FIR registered against SAD leader may harm the alliance SAD-BJP during the by-poll of Gurdaspur.
