New Delhi: Finance minister Arun Jaitley on Monday introduced in the Lok Sabha a bill that will replace an ordinance which was brought urgently for the timely execution of the GST law in the union territory of Chandigarh.

New Delhi: Finance minister Arun Jaitley on Monday introduced in the Lok Sabha a bill that will replace an ordinance which was brought urgently for the timely execution of the GST law in the union territory of Chandigarh.

The Punjab Municipal Corporation Law (Extension to Chandigarh) Amendment Bill, 2017 seeks to transfer power of the central government to levy taxes on entertainment and amusement in Chandigarh to its municipal corporation.

The GST was rolled out across the country from July 1 and the ordinance was brought as Parliament was not in session then, the bill says.
