
Hi-Tech LEDs are all set to enhance the beauty of the Golden Temple. SGPC secretary Dr Roop Singh said, “We will inaugurate it on October 5 and the devotees can witness it on October 7, the birth anniversary of Guru Ram Das, founder of Amritsar.”
The decision to implement the project was taken after it was noticed that the heat generated by traditional lights was damaging the marble in the temple premises.
This Hi-tech LEDs will light up automatically as the sun sets and will be illuminated till the early hours. Lighting will be soft on normal days and will be brighter on festivals, said manager of the Golden Temple, Sulakhan Singh.
Under the Rs 13-crore project, at least 1,700 LED lights have been installed at various locations, including the shrine, Akal Takht, Darshni Deori, bungas and the main entry point through the plaza. The total power load will be less than 10 kW.
While talking with the media a devotee said, "These lights are looking very very wonderful and are very pleasing to the eyes and a very brilliant effort". These major step of giving Hi-tech LEDs will help to cut down the power expenses and pollution during festivals.
