Former SAD minister booked on rape charges

Former Shiromani Akali Dal minister Sucha Singh Langah has been booked on the charge of raping a woman. Gurdaspur Senior Superintendent of Police, Harcharan Singh Bhullar, said a woman made a written complaint to him on Thursday, alleging that Langah had raped her several times, and had also sold off her properties fraudulently.

She said that Langah had promised her a government job for sex. He raped her before arranging government job and then continued to have physical relations on the pretexd that he had given her government job.

The SSP said he marked an inquiry into the complaint to Gurdaspur city Deputy Superintendent of Police A.D.Singh, who found Langah guilty. The SSP said a case under Sections 376, 384, 420 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against Langah at the city police station, Gurdaspur.

The complainant had provided the police a pen-drive containing video clip relating to her rape by Langah. It is alleged that Langah is also having second wife in Chandigarh while his first wife lives in native village Dhariwal. The second wife Narinder Kaur lives in Naya Gaon near Chandigarh.
