In a marriage palace on NH 22 near Dhakoli, Aura Garden, fire broke out all of a sudden and within minutes turned into huge flames.
However, no loss of life was reported in the
incident. The wedding of the groom from Panchkula and the bridegroom, a
resident of Delhi, was to be solemnised at the venue at night.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, but it is suspected that it was triggered by a short-circuit. Eyewitnesses said the fire started from the ceiling of the tent.
According to the sources, entire set and the decorations were reduced to ashes.
A large number of guests were standing near the
tent when the fire broke out. Someone raised the alarm after which the
guests rushed towards the exit points on to the main road.
People present at the resort immediately called up the Fire Department after which firefighters reached the spot and controlled the fire.
However, there was no loss of life but the question has raised about fire safety measures
at marriage palaces that have mushroomed in the town during the past few years.
