The police arrested a drug peddler and recovered 30 gm of
opium from his possession. The accused has been identified as Gurpinder
Singh, a resident of Rupnagar.

The police laid a naka near Jawaharpur village. The accused, who was coming towards Dera Bassi, was stopped on suspicion and during checking, the police party recovered the opium from him.
A case under the NDPS Act had been registered in this regard at the Dera
Bassi police station. The accused would be produced in a court
tomorrow, the police said.
