Despite the security, Bathinda SSP attacked by a stray dog

The SSP Bathinda, Naveen Singla who ensures the safety and security of the city was bitten by a stray dog when he entered the Dunes Club with his gunmen.

Interestingly, the SSP was accompanied by his gunmen who didn’t even stop the dog. He was taken to a private hospital and given first aid.

The District Animal Husbandry Department, along with the Municipal Corporation, Bathinda, had started a campaign for the sterilisation of dogs.

 However, the drive has been stalled since June due to a shortage of funds.

A stray dog had also bitten Mayor Balwant Rai Nath at Sanjay Nagar last year.

Mayor Balwant Rai Nath said it was a sad incident. He also admitted that stray dogs were on the rise in the city.

HC HAD TAKEN NOTICE OF THE MATTER


The Punjab and Haryana High Court had taken serious note of the stray dog menace and issued notices to the Chandigarh administration and governments of Punjab and Haryana, asking them to show cause their policies on compensation paid to victims of dog bite.

Justice Rakesh Kumar Jain, in a civil writ petition, filed by advocate Hari Chand Arora, seeking a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the family of a Class V student, who died of a dog bite injury in March 2014, observed that there has been an increase in injuries and deaths caused by stray dogs as well as by pet dogs that are not properly trained or disciplined.

The 12-year-old had been bitten by a stray dog outside his home in Patiala district’s Samana area in January 2014 and despite being administered five anti-rabies injections, died two months later.

PUNJAB GOVERNMENT DIDN’T LEARN LESSON FROM PAST INCIDENTS

 

A four-year-old child was died due to the dog bite in Ferozepur. The child had left the home to visit a nearby shrine and he was bitten by stray dogs when he was on the way.

In Sallopur village, Gurdaspur District, an 83 year old Jagat Singh died as he was attacked by the dogs.  

A pack of stray dogs killed a three year old boy in Ajnala. Angad Veer was the only child of his parents.
