Ludhiana: A Ludhiana court on Wednesday ordered framing of charges against sitting MLA Simerjit Singh Bains, his old associate and now Congress leader Kamaljit Singh Karwal and others in the case of murderous assault on former Ludhiana Tehsildar Major (retd) Gurjinder Singh Benipal.
The order was passed by the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Sonia Kinra.

The next hearing of the case is fixed for July 4. In the highly-publicised case, the president of Lok Insaf Party (LIP) MLA Bains and Karwal along with others were booked in 2009 on the charges of attempt to murder. Benipal is now District Revenue Officer, Ludhiana.
