Chandigarh: Chandigarh and its surrounding areas in Punjab and Haryana were hit by a high-velocity dust storm today.

The storm, with wind speed exceeding 40 kmph, hit the city and its surrounding areas including Mohali and Panchkula.

The maximum temperature had risen two to four notches above normal at many places in Punjab and Haryana, including Chandigarh, over the last few days, settling in the 37-40 degrees Celsius range.
