Braid-chopping “victims” own doing, prove us wrong and get Rs 5 lakh: Tarksheel Society

Mohali: Tarksheel Society Punjab on Sunday dared those who believe some supernatural force was behind the spate of braid-chopping incidents being reported from different parts of the state.

Mohali: Tarksheel Society Punjab on Sunday dared those who believe some supernatural force was behind the spate of braid-chopping incidents being reported from different parts of the state.

Outrightly rejecting this kind of belief, the Society’s leaders suspected these incidents were handiwork of the “victims” themselves. They announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for anybody proving them wrong.

The leaders including Jarnail Kranti, Gurmeet Singh and Surjit Singh said their units in the state studied these incidents thoroughly and concluded these were caused by factors like mental tension, superstition, sense of neglect in family, hysteria and social system.

Their enquiries revealed that in all the cases, the “victims” were alone at the time of reporting the incidents. Such incidents would continue to be reported so long as society lacked scientific approach to life, they said while questioning silence of political parties on the issue.

They also termed the story doing rounds on social media attributing this phenomenon to some Chinese worm as baseless. The Society leaders appealed to police to investigate these incidents thoroughly and take legal action against those spreading and promoting such misleading belief in
