Hoshiarpur: Dal Khalsa today urged the people of Punjab irrespective of religion to be prepared to protect themselves from the hooliganism being anticipated by Sirsa dera followers in the wake of any adverse verdict by Panchkula court against their so-called godman on August 25.
Addressing the press conference party leaders HS Dhami and spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said the people should not leave themselves on the mercy of the state and its administration as successive state governments and the police have record of siding with sirsa dera and its head.
They said the BJP-SAD and the Congress all are flocks of the same feather as far as patronizing and sponsoring of this godmen was concerned. Hence, they can't be trusted.
They said the case in which the court was going to pronounce the verdict had nothing to do with Punjab and its people. Then why the people of Punjab were being made to undergo fear psychosis, they questioned. They asked the Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims and Christians of the state to rise to the occasion and defeat the designs of all such forces that could pose danger to their lives, honour and properties.
Commenting on the possible verdict against Gurmit Ram Rahim in a sexual abuse case, they said we were eagerly waiting to see whether the Indian state protects its VIP guest or sacrifices him. “We all know how the state has been protecting him, providing him Z-plus security cover despite his being facing the criminal cases of heinous nature”. Similarly, we would see whether the state administration would protect the mob or its citizens?
Expressing concern over the build-up hysteria, they said large scale mobilization of forces, prevailing mob mentality throughout India and threatening tone and tenor of the so-called premis for bloodbath was aimed to influence the judiciary. It's a orchestrated design to prevent the courts from delivering justice to the victim.
Issuing a word of caution to all, they said we don't want the people of Punjab especially Malwa region were caught unaware in case violence was let loose on them. They said we want the chief minister Captain Amrinder Singh to publically speak and issue the stern warning that no nonsense would be tolerated at any cost. They blamed the Indian political culture for patronizing and encouraging all such sects and cults including Sirsa dera due to vote-bank politics.
On surfacing of new video clips that revealed how the police resorted to lathicharge and unprovoked firing on peaceful protesters at Kotkapura last year, they said all lies of the police stands exposed. They said the then DGP S S Saini was fully responsible for the mayhem. They demanded that the Commission should take serious note of wrongdoings of guilty officers.
