The Local bodies minister Navjot Singh Sidhu had highlighted the issue of the tax evasion by the Fastway Transmission Private Ltd owned by Akali stalwarts. Even the local bodies ministry has sent the notices to the company for the violations.

In a span of ten years, the company had took over the small cable operators and successfully managed to monopolize the cable network of the state. The fire brand politician Navjot Singh Sidhu had raised the issue few days back and he also presented the factual information received under the RTI reply.

Now the ball is in Captain’s court as Sidhu blatantly spoken against the cable mafia owned by the prominent political family with the support of the documents received under RTI information.

The local cable operators have been frequently raised their voice against the authoritative and dictatorial policies of the Fastway Transmission Private Ltd. When the Congress took the reins of the Punjab, the local cable operators even locked the Fastway offices in some parts of the state.

Though Capt Amarinder Singh had announced his non-vendetta stand but he also stated that the action would be taken against the erring politicians and the companies worked against the state.

The sand and cable mafia hit the headlines since 2007 and the ruling Punjab government has committed to eliminate the both so that the state could generate maximum revenue.
