Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has ordered a vigilance probe into the Abohar water works land scam in which the name of ex-Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal’s uncle Paramjit Singh Lali Badal’s name cropped up.

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has ordered a vigilance probe into the Abohar water works land scam in which the name of ex-Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal’s uncle Paramjit Singh Lali Badal’s name cropped up.

Navjot Singh Sidhu, cabinet minister has revealed that some people in SAD-BJP regime encroached on the land. He said that in 1961, the authorities acquired 9.25 acres of land to increase the capacity of the water work built in 1931 at Abohar and the compensation was given to the land owners at that time. After the formation of SAD-BJP government in 2007, few SAD leaders tampered with the government records and got some portion registered in their names.

The then Deputy Commissioner without checking the record ordered the demarcation to felicitate the illegal encroachment of the land worth crores. The registries are in the names of Paramjit Singh aka Lali Badal, uncle of Ex-Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal, Gurdit Singh, Mahinder Pratap, Ram Dayal, Varinder Pal Singh and Ashok Kumar.

It is now crystal clear that in the SAD- BJP regime of ten years, the close associates and aides of both party leaders violated the rules and regulations for the personal gains. Moreover, they were backed by the Akali leaders.
