54-year-old cyclist died in a road accident

A 54-year-old cyclist died after allegedly being hit by a car near Moti Mahal restaurant on the Chandigarh-Ambala road. The deceased has been identified as Amarjeet Singh, a resident of Daher village.

According to the police, the incident took place around 9 pm when the victim was on way back to his village after finishing his shift at a factory here. As he reached near highway, a car coming from the Chandigarh side reportedly hit his bicycle and sped away. He fell on the road and sustained injuries. 

The police reached on the spot where the accident took place and the injured was rushed to the Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Meanwhile, the police has registered a case against the unidentified driver of the car at the Lalru police station. An investigation into the case had been initiated.
