Punjab Assembly Honours Sahibzadas’ Sacrifice, CM Mann Leads Tribute
The Punjab Legislative Assembly in its special one-day session solemnly paid tribute to the martyrdom of the four Sahibzadas, sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This reaffirms Punjab’s enduring legacy of resistance to oppression and injustice.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the House honoured Baba Ajit Singh ji, Baba Jujhar Singh ji, Baba Zorawar Singh ji and Baba Fateh Singh ji, as well as other revered figures including Mata Gujri ji, Baba Jivan Singh ji, Baba Sangat Singh ji and Diwan Todar Mal ji for their ultimate sacrifices in Sikh history.
CM Mann addressed the Assembly session, describing the sacrifices of the Sahibzadas as unparalleled examples of courage. He said that their refusal to bow before oppression continues to inspire generations to uphold justice and human freedom, according to the report.
He said that despite facing extreme hardships, including confinement in the harsh winter of the ‘Thanda Burj’, the young Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri ji remained firm in their principles. Mann also noted that the state government had made extensive preparations for the Shaheedi Sabha, which draws lakhs of devotees from around the world, ensuring adequate health facilities, transportation, sanitation and security.
The session convened primarily to discuss the replacement of MGNREGA with the VB-G RAM G Act. It was used to collectively reflect on the historical sacrifices and reaffirm cultural memory, even as political debate continues nationally over how Martyrdom Day should be commemorated.
