Chandigarh, August 31: State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed a Sub Inspector posted at Police station Phillaur, Jalandhar red handed for accepting bribe of Rs. 5,000. Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Sub Inspector Bakhshish Singh posted at PS Phillaur in Jalandhar district was nabbed red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 5,000 from complainant Vijay Kumar resident of village Nagar, Jalandhar district.

 The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said accused has been demanding Rs. 5,000 to help him in a complaint case and give witness in his favour in the court. After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused sub inspector was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs. 5,000/- from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Jalandhar and further investigation was under progress.
