Lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded at Ballowal Saunkhri.
Punjab Weather News Update Today: Although Punjab has been issued a yellow alert, cold day conditions and dense fog continue to prevail across the state. Punjab on Tuesday registered a slight fall of -0.3 Degrees Celsius. India Meteorological Department stated that it was above normal by 2.2 Degrees Celsius in the state.
In the meanwhile, the lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded at Ballowal Saunkhri (AMFU) where the mercury level slightly dipped to 4.0 degrees Celsius.
According to information, Chandigarh recorded 7.2 degrees Celsius, while Chandigarh (Airport) recorded 7.7 degrees Celsius, Amritsar recorded 5.1, Ludhiana 8.3, Patiala 9.2, Pathankot 6.8, Bathinda 8.0, Faridkot 7.4, Gurdaspur 7.5, Ballowal (SBS Nagar) 4.0, Barnala 9.5, Faridkot (AWS) 9.4, Fatehgarh Sahib 7.3, Nurmahal, Jalandhar 7.5, Samrala 9.7, Budh Singh Wala (Moga) 7.9, Mohali 7.8 and Ropar recorded 6.4.
Earlier, the India Meteorological Department on Wednesday stated, "The Western Disturbance as a trough in middle tropospheric westerlies at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly along Long. 50°E to the north of Lat. 30°N persists. Jet Stream Winds of the order of 140-160 knots at 12.6 km above mean sea level is prevailing over North
India. A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Northwest India from January 30 and another from February 3, 2024."
Similarly, the IMD has also issued a yellow alert in the state for January 30 predicting thunderstorms and lighting at most isolated places.
