Anurag Thakur on PM Narendra Modi's Security Breach in Punjab: On Sunday, Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur stated that the nation would not forget the security breach involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Punjab in February 2022, attributing the lapse to the Punjab Government.
Thakur made these remarks during a press conference following a meeting on the Union Budget. In response to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's accusations of budgetary discrimination against the state, Thakur countered, "No state has been subjected to discrimination. I would advise the Punjab CM, who frequently clashes with the state Governor, to refrain from engaging in petty politics."
Without breaking his sentence, Thakur said, “During the visit of PM Modi, the Punjab Government compromised his security. The CM should know he is not just ours (BJP’s), but the entire country’s PM.”
He asserted that the BJP government had acted on the Swaminathan Commission report to benefit farmers, criticizing the UPA government for failing to do so. “It is the Modi administration that is putting the recommendations into practice,” he said.
Regarding Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's decision to boycott the Niti Aayog meeting, Thakur remarked, “He should not use national development issues as a platform for politics and avoid important meetings.” Thakur also questioned the AAP government’s commitment to implementing the Minimum Support Price (MSP), asking, “What happened to those promises?”
Turning his criticism toward the Delhi Government, Thakur said, “AAP promised to transform Delhi into a city of lakes. Where are those lakes now? Recently, three IAS aspirants drowned in the basement of a coaching institute. What steps are being taken to ensure the safety of Delhi’s residents?”
