Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Visits Flood-Affected Areas, Offers His Helicopter For Relief Work

Police and NDRF teams are carrying out a joint operation to rescue people trapped in floodwaters in the Fazilka district of Punjab.

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Offers His Helicopter For Relief Work  Latest News: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited the flood-affected area in Gurdaspur and offered his helicopter for relief work, to deliver rations, on Wednesday.  

Bhagwant Mann, in a post on X, said, “The helicopter that the people have given me along with the responsibility of Punjab, I have put to work to deliver rations and help those trapped in the flood-affected areas. Rations will be delivered to all the people through the helicopter. We always stand with the people in their happiness and sorrow.”

"Today I visited the ground zero of the flood-affected areas of Gurdaspur and Pathankot. I interacted with the local people and appealed to them to keep their courage and strength up. Natural disasters are not in anyone's control, but our government will not leave anyone helpless. Every life is precious for us. Punjab government's helicopter to help people we are always available. As promised, we will definitely compensate for every loss of the people. Soon, the situation will become normal," CM said in a separate post earlier today. 

Relentless rainfall in the past few days in Punjab and nearby mountain areas has led to flood-like situations in several districts, inundating over 150 villages as rivers are overflowing.

Many villages near the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor in Gurdaspur also got inundated after the collapse of the embankment at the Ravi river.

Police and NDRF teams are carrying out a joint operation to rescue people trapped in floodwaters in the Fazilka district of Punjab.

NDRF DIG Mohsen Shahidi on Wednesday evening said the flood situation in Punjab's Gurdaspur deteriorated and additional rescue teams are being deployed. 

NDRF DIG Mohsen Shahidi told PTI, "Heavy rains have been happening since yesterday, it caused flooding in Jammu region, especially border areas. Many NDRF operations were carried out, as of now, the situation is better; there was less rain today. Nine teams of NDRF were present in Jammu region, we have sent four more teams. In Gurdaspur, the situation had deteriorated; four teams were sent, and three more teams are being sent."
