SGPC Issues Notice of Rs. 24.90 Lakhs Arrears to PTC for Unpaid Room Rent

SGPC's Notice to PTC Signals Strong Measures to Ensure Financial Compliance

CHANDIGARH: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has taken action against PTC (Punjabi Television Channel) for unpaid rooms rent amounting to Rs. 24.90 lakhs. A notice has been served to PTC, requesting the deposit of the balance amount for rooms utilized by the channel's staff.

PTC, known for its live broadcasts of Gurbani, has received the notice from SGPC concerning the outstanding amount of Rs. 24.90 lakhs. Reportedly, the channel's staff has been occupying rooms numbered 91 and 93 in Sri Guru Arjan Dev Saran, located within the revered premises of Sri Harmandir Sahib, for the past 11 years without clearing their rent dues.

Additionally, SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami has addressed another concern regarding the extended stay of a radio staff member from Canada, who has been residing in the inn for the last two decades. He has asked the radio management to make arrangements for settling the unpaid rent, amounting to lakhs of rupees, for the designated rooms in the inn.

Advocate Dhami, while shedding light on the matter, revealed that SGPC is in the process of sending out further notices to recover unpaid rents and other outstanding dues from various shops and establishments within Gurdwara sahbans under its jurisdiction.The response from PTC regarding the notice is yet to be received, and further developments on the matter are awaited.
