AMRITSAR: BSF foiled another attempt by Pakistani smugglers at Amritsar border in Punjab. In the intervening night of Wednesday-Thursday, soldiers shot down a Pakistani drone which as being used in drug smuggling at night.

According to the information released by the BSF officials, the soldiers of Battalion 22 were on night patrol. A drone sound was heard in the middle of the night near the BOP bridge piers. Hearing the sound of the drone, the jawans started firing. Within a few minutes, the jawans succeeded in bringing down the drone.

Within seconds of the firing, the sound of the drone stopped. BSF personnel have sealed the area and started searching. The drone was found in pieces in fields near Pul Moran, Amritsar. The BSF took possession of it and informed the higher authorities.

A packet tied with yellow tape was recovered with the drone. Two packets of heroin weighting 2 kg have been recovered from this bag. Globally, the price of this consignment is around Rs 14 crore. Along with this, two more belts have also been recovered with this consignment, in which opium has been recovered.
