AMRITSAR: The 31st Northern Regional Council meeting commenced with the arrival of Indian Home Minister Amit Shah in Amritsar, gathering key figures like Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, alongside Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on the stage.

In the meeting, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann raised vital concerns, prominently addressing the challenges faced by flood-affected regions in Punjab. He emphasized that during the state's flooding crisis, some states that were earlier requesting water from Punjab turned their backs when Punjab needed assistance. CM Mann emphasized the need for a sustainable solution to prevent a recurrence of such problems.

Apart from the flooding issue, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann touched upon several other critical matters. He advocated for returning to the older appointment process for members of power in the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB). Additionally, the matter of Rural Development Fund (RDF) garnered discussion.

The problem of fraudulent travel agents was brought to light during the meeting, highlighting the need for immediate attention to tackle this issue effectively. Moreover, concerns were raised regarding the recognition of Haryana colleges in Panjab University.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stressed the necessity for alterations in the rules governing the release of funds for individuals affected by floods, aiming to ensure efficient and timely support to those in need. The meeting served as a platform to openly discuss and address these crucial issues, with a focus on improving the overall well-being and development of the northern region.
