CM Bhagwant Mann's Cabinet Clears Punjab Crusher Units Regulation Act 2025: The Punjab Cabinet, led by CM Bhagwant Mann, in a significant step to combat illegal mining, has approved the Punjab Regulation of Crusher Units Act, 2025.

In August 2023, the Punjab Cabinet approved the Punjab Crusher Policy 2023, categorizing crusher units into Commercial Crusher Units (CCU) and Public Crusher Units (PCU) to ensure the availability of sand and gravel at fair prices. Subsequently, in September 2024, the Punjab government introduced stricter regulations, requiring new crusher units to obtain approval from the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and verify the legal source of materials.
