MP Sanjeev Arora Urges Swift Action on Flood Relief and Key State Issues
CHANDIGARH: In a significant development, Member of Parliament (MP) from Punjab, Sanjeev Arora, addressed the pressing flood situation in the state and raised several vital issues during the parliamentary session. Highlighting the impact of floods on crops across India, especially in Punjab, the MP sought clarity on the government's plans for providing compensation to affected farmers. He urged swift action to address the farmers' plight and ensure timely assistance.
MP Arora took the opportunity to shed light on various national concerns of Punjab in the Rajya Sabha. Among them, he pointed out the challenges faced by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) in acquiring land for highway projects, causing delays in their execution. He called for the government's intervention in swiftly resolving land compensation matters to facilitate the completion of NHAI projects across Punjab.
Another crucial issue raised by the MP was the state of Ludhiana railway station. Sanjeev Arora appealed to the Union Railway Minister for expedited action, considering the difficulties faced by the people due to the station's current condition.
Furthermore, the matter of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) was also addressed in the Rajya Sabha. Citing Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's prior concerns, MP Arora emphasized the need to revise the MNREGA rate in Punjab, which is currently lower than other states. He urged for an increase in minimum wages to ensure the scheme's success and better livelihood opportunities for the rural workforce.
