Tragedy struck when a school roof fell, leading to the unfortunate demise of teacher Ravinder Kaur and causing injuries to Narinderjit Kaur, Sukhjit Kaur, and Indu Rani. Deputy Commissioner Surbhi Malik, after personally visiting the injured teachers, informed that the Ludhiana rural police have swiftly lodged an FIR against the contractor. "Strict action is being pursued against the culprits as directed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, who has taken serious note of the incident," stated Deputy Commissioner Malik.

Further steps have been taken to ensure the safety of the school premises. A security evaluation of the building has been initiated, resulting in the sealing of the building. Residents residing in proximity to the school have been advised to refrain from approaching the site until the evaluation is complete.

Elaborating on the rescue efforts, Deputy Commissioner Malik mentioned that upon receiving the news of the accident, multiple administrative teams were dispatched to the scene. The Indo-Tibetan Police Force (ITBP) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were called upon to extricate the four teachers trapped under the debris. Teams managed to successfully rescue the teachers, promptly transporting them to a medical facility. Unfortunately, Ravinder Kaur (45) could not be saved and was declared deceased at the hospital.
