Mohali News: Strong winds that lashed Mohali, Punjab, earlier on Friday left several electricity poles and large trees uprooted in some areas, triggering panic among residents.
Electric poles collapsed in Sector 7, Mohali, damaging a parked car near a house. It is feared that the incident may leave residents in the affected area without electricity for up to two days. No casualties have been reported.

Moderate rainfall, ranging between 5–15 mm, is expected in the district under the nowcast, along with moderate thunderstorms. Maximum surface wind speeds are likely to range between 41–61 kmph in gusts.
The nowcast is valid till 5 pm today.
SAS Nagar Weather Forecast
In the general forecast for today, SAS Nagar has been placed under an orange alert, with warnings of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, squalls, and related weather conditions.
Hailstorms are also predicted, along with strong surface winds similar to those experienced this morning.
As of today, the entire North-East and East Punjab remain under an orange alert with similar warnings, while West and South-West Punjab are under a yellow alert, warning of similar weather conditions along with fog.
Tomorrow’s Weather Forecast (24 January)
On January 24, no warning has been issued for East Punjab. However, a yellow alert with warnings of fog remains in place for West and Central Punjab.
According to the IMD, fog is expected to engulf the entire state on January 25, with weather conditions likely to clear on January 26, when no warnings will be in place.
