Peaceful Community Shattered by Brutal Family Tragedy; Accused Surrenders to Police
JALANDHAR: A Horrifying incident transpired in Tower Enclave Phase-3 of Jalandhar as a 30-year-old son shot and killed his parents and brother, unleashing seven bullets in a ruthless act driven by a property dispute. The father of the youth had been employed as a security guard, which granted him access to a double-barreled 12 bore gun and another single-barrel gun.
The Victims have been identified as Jagbir Singh (father), Amritpal Kaur (mother), and Gagandeep Singh (brother). Meanwhile, the alleged perpetrator of this heinous crime, Harpreet Singh, has been taken into custody. The Lambra police station has initiated legal proceedings, filing a case against the accused under various sections, including murder and the Arms Act.
According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Kartarpur, the incident occurred around 2:30 pm. After committing the crime, Harpreet astonishingly proceeded to a local theater to watch a comedy movie. Subsequently, he presented himself at the Lambra police station, surrendering and confessing his dreadful act. He revealed that the lifeless bodies of the three victims were left in his residence in Tower Enclave Phase-3.
Local law enforcement promptly responded to the situation, taking the accused into custody and launching a comprehensive investigation. At the crime scene, the police encountered the grim sight of the three lifeless bodies soaked in blood. Two licensed firearms were also recovered from the incident location.
Raghuveer Singh, the brother of the deceased Jagbir, disclosed that his son, Harpreet Singh, had been embroiled in a long-standing property dispute. Harpreet frequently subjected his family to verbal abuse, fostering an environment of tension. His intention was to take possession of the family home, leading him to reside separately with his wife and two children. Jagbir Singh had relocated to Tower Enclave Phase-3 and constructed a house, as both brothers aspired to live together. Jagbir Singh had been employed as a security guard while residing at this location.
Upon the confirmation of the information provided by the accused, panic and disbelief swept through the entire area. The shocking triple homicide in an otherwise peaceful neighborhood sent shockwaves through the community. The Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Jalandhar Rural Police, Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar, arrived at the scene late at night to lead the investigation. A forensic team collected various samples from the crime scene for further examination.
Notably, Harpreet Singh unleashed approximately seven bullets from a single-barrel 12 bore gun, targeting his father with five of them. The bullets struck the father in the waist, neck, and head. The mother and brother also fell victim to the violence, with a bullet fired at each. After committing the brutal act, Harpreet fled the scene, leaving his family members in excruciating pain. The police confirmed the recovery of two double-barreled and single-barreled guns at the crime site. Legal proceedings against Harpreet were initiated based on statements provided by Raghveer Singh.
