Stringent Campaign Targets Drug Smugglers, as Heroin Stash is Unearthed

DERA BABA NANAK: In a significant operation, the Punjab Police seized two packets of heroin from the fields of Haruwal village, located near the border under the jurisdiction of the Dera Baba Nanak police station. The recovered heroin, estimated to be worth crores, underscores the persistent challenge posed by drug trafficking in the region. 

The Deputy Superintendent of Police (D.S.P.) for Dera Baba Nanak, Maninderpal Singh, and Inspector Bikram Singh of the Dera Baba Nanak Police Station, credited the Director General of Police (D.G.P.) Gaurav Yadav and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ashwini Gotyal for guiding this focused campaign against drug smugglers.

Notably, this successful operation follows the recovery of 15 kilograms of heroin from Haruwal village under the jurisdiction of the Dera Baba Nanak police station a few days ago. The police apprehended three individuals in connection with this case and registered a criminal case against them. During this investigation, it was discovered that an additional 2 kilograms of heroin had yet to be accounted for.

Today, in the aftermath of the paddy crop harvest in Haruwal village, the police conducted a renewed search operation in the area. Their persistent efforts led to the discovery of an envelope within a field, concealing 2 kilograms of heroin. Subsequently, the police took possession of the heroin and officially registered the case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act as Case No. 134.
