Punjab Weather Update, Heatwave Alert, Rainfall Prediction News Today: The India Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow Alert for Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Firozpur, Faridkot, Moga, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala, SAS Nagar, and Malerkotla for Tuesday, signaling moderate temperatures that pose a tolerable but notable health concern for vulnerable populations such as infants, the elderly, and those with chronic diseases.
Residents have been advised to avoid heat exposure by wearing lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting cotton clothes and to cover their heads with cloth, hats, or umbrellas.
Meanwhile, an Orange Alert has been declared for Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala, Mansa, and Sangrur due to severe heat conditions that significantly increase the risk of heat illness, particularly for those exposed to the sun for extended periods or engaged in strenuous activity.
The public in these areas should take precautions to stay cool, avoid dehydration, and consume plenty of fluids such as water, ORS, and homemade drinks like lassi, torani (rice water), lemon water, and buttermilk to stay hydrated and maintain their health.
