The incident has once again raised questions over the menace of stray dogs in Ferozepur district.
A 65-year-old man was mauled to death by stray dogs in Changaali Jadid village of Ferozepur district, triggering fear among residents of nearby villages.
The deceased has been identified as Jagir Chaudhary, a resident of Changaali Jadid. He was the father of five daughters.
According to information, Jagir Chaudhary was returning to his village on a bicycle after giving Lohri gifts to his daughters on Sunday night. Due to darkness and dense fog, he was reportedly surrounded by a pack of stray dogs, which attacked him.
It is learnt that the dogs continued attacking him throughout the night. The incident came to light on next morning when passersby noticed his body lying on the roadside. By then, the elderly man had died, and his body had been mauled by the dogs.
Following the incident, an atmosphere of fear prevailed in the area, with residents expressing concern over the rising incidents of stray dog attacks in the district. Recently, a similar incident was reported from Guruharsahai, where a youth was mauled to death by dogs.
The incident has once again raised questions over the menace of stray dogs in Ferozepur district.
