This order will apply to Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency only

MOHALI: Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C has ordered to remove the picture of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann from the Aam Aadmi Clinic or cover it well. He has taken this action after a complaint made by the leaders of the opposition parties in this regard.

However, this order will apply to Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency only. This issue was raised in the Vidhan Sabha by the Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa. CEO Sibin C said that no such activity is allowed during the elections to influence the voters.

The commission received a complaint. After this, instructions have been given to the District Election Officer that the photographs of the Chief Minister displayed in the Aam Aadmi Clinic should either be removed or kept covered.

Since the Election Code is applicable only in Jalandhar Lok Sabha Constituency, this order will remain applicable in Jalandhar as well. Notably, Aam Aadmi Clinic is an ambitious scheme of Punjab Government. Photographs of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann are prominently displayed in every Aam Aadmi clinic.
