Cabinet Ministers to Vacate Flat within 15 days after Allotment of Govt House

Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha Kultar Singh Sandhawan has amended the rules

Chandigarh: The Cabinet Ministers will no longer be able to avail the benefits of MLA flat with the Government house. According to the notification issued by the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Secretariat, new rules have been made by amending the Punjab Legislative Assembly (Allotment of MLAs Flats, Servant Quarters and Motor Garage) Rules 1971 by the Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha Kultar Singh Sandhawan.

According to the notification, when any minister is allotted a government flat, he will have to vacate the existing flat within 15 days. In case of failure to do so, double fare will be charged for the next 15 days.

According to the new rules, if the Minister does not vacate the flat even after one month, he will have to pay 160 times the fixed rent. According to the details, the rent of the flat is about Rs 250 per month. If the Minister does not vacate the flat even after one month, he will have to pay a rent of Rs 40,000 per month.
