Jalandhar Breaking: Voting has been halted in Sikandar Pur village, which falls under Zila Parishad Jandhu Singha in the Adampur constituency, after alleged incorrect ballot papers were issued.
Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Dharampal Lesariwal has alleged that the government was deliberately indulging in such practices to harm opposition parties.
Following the alleged incident, Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Dharampal Lesriwal, rural president Harinder Dheensa, Gurdial Singh Nindiar, Sunny Dhillon of Alawalpur, along with Akali workers, staged a sit-in protest outside the booth against the government. Since then, voting at this booth has been stopped.
It is being reported that no senior official has reached the spot two hours after the incident. They have demanded that voting at this booth be cancelled and conducted afresh.
Meanwhile, in Nanherhe village, which falls under the Ghanaur constituency of Patiala district, a tense atmosphere was witnessed when a Congress party polling agent was not allowed to enter.
The polling agent reportedly arrived at 7 am to do his duty when people there chased him away. He clearly stated that all his documents were complete and questioned why he was not being allowed to perform his duty as a polling agent.
