A court in Ludhiana, Punjab, received a bomb threat on Wednesday, triggering panic on the premises. The court has been closed by the police, who have reached the site, and a search is currently underway.

“Dear members, I have just received a call from the English office informing us that another email threatening to bomb the judicial building has been received. The police are again checking the premises. As 26 January is a very sensitive day, we cannot take any risk. Therefore, please avoid going to the chambers until further intimation and allow the police to carry out their checks,” read a message circulated by one of the court authorities.

The legal community, the Ludhina court later today, held a press conference and demanded that the security arrangements of the court be strengthened.
Senior lawyer Bikram Sidhu and Ludhiana Bar Association President Vipin Saggar said that the Court has received threats earlier, while highlighting that a blast also took place at the premises, a few years ago.
The legal community appealed to strengthen the security arrangements of the court.
