Punjab Govt Set a Target of Achieving a Growth Rate of 7.5 Percent by 2030

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Finance and Planning Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has set an economic growth rate of 7.5 percent per annum by 2030 and 10 percent per annum by 2047. He said that this document will serve as a guiding document for future governments to focus their efforts and policies in the right direction.

Addressing a press conference at Punjab Bhavan, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that this comprehensive document being prepared by the Planning Department is about the current situation, choices in various sectors, short-term (2030) and long-term (2047) goals. This will shed light on the strategies to achieve these goals. He said that the aim of this is to pool the efforts of various administrative departments and agencies to face the challenges and achieve the set regional goals. The document will also highlight areas that require serious and intensive efforts to revive the state's economy by promoting employment, industry, agriculture and rural development, infrastructure development, sustainable cities and habitats.

Efforts to focus on ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education, health infrastructure and provision, achieving gender equality, affordable and clean energy, climate action and conservation of natural resources are being done, Cheema said. 

The Finance Minister said that the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is committed to restore the old glory of the state by creating 'Rangla Punjab' through effective economic policies and pro-people programs like 'Sarkar Aaphai Dwar'. Highlighting the importance of government at your door, Cheema said that during these programmes, common people, organizations and non-governmental organizations can directly raise their issues before the Cabinet Minister of the concerned department, thereby providing timely services at the district level administration. 

Emphasizing that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is most accountable to the people of the state. Cheema said that during the recent cabinet meeting held at Mansa, a decision was taken to secure the services of 14,239 teachers. During the initial years, he said that most of the guarantees given to the people of Punjab have been fulfilled and the remaining promises will also be fulfilled.
